So who is going to Pebble beach this year? I know a few of us Oppos are going.
Do you think we can pick a date and time to hang out?
I’m going to be there from August 17th - 19th.

I’ll be there on the 18th. I’ll hit up the usual for me. So Rennwerks reunion, legends of the Autobahn, and exotics on canery row. Can’t guarantee I’ll be at exotics that long though since I’ll be taking the GF with and I try to trade a nice dinner in Monterey in exchange for her going with me the entire day.
I’m up for an Oppo meet if there’s a good turnout.

I accidentally went to Pebble Beach once. My wife and I were driving down the coast after having gone to Yosemite and San Francisco and decided that we would spend the night in Monterrey...we did not have reservations. We ended up finding what had to be one of the last hotel rooms available for the night for $350 (I was all for sleeping in the car, my wife was much less enthusiastic about that). I did get to oogle at all the exotics driving around and joined a few fellow peasants standing on a picnic table watching one of the auctions over the fence lol. All in all I would do it again, minus the $350 bed.
It was also the first time I got a look at the new Jag F-Type coupes, 3 of them together in fact, I think this was just around when they were launched. They were sexy then and are still sexy now.

From the comments I’ve seen so far. I don’t think there’s going to be a good turn out lol\
Can you tell me about how I can attend these events?

When I first moved to Salinas, it happened to be during Concours Weekend 2005. I didn’t know when I drove over to Monterey to check things out and I almost got into an accident or two from checking out the cars and not knowing the streets.

I used to live there. I moved to Salt Lake City in summer 2015, and last year I moved to San Diego.

That’s unfortunate. If you can bring a friend I’d strongly recommend it. It makes the day less lonely. I could also meet up with you for a little bit at one of these events if you’re going to one of them. These events are free so that’s why they’re usuals for me. I have yet to be able to secure the infamous tickets one needs to enter The Quail. Definitely one of my dreams though.
I’m not sure your level of familiarity to car week so I’ll just start with the locations of these. The events for the most part are hosted on golf courses.
Rennwerks reunion is hosted on the Rancho Cañada Golf Club in Carmel. A 20 minute-ish drive from Monterey/Cannery Row. It’s free to attend but parking is about $20 in the lot if I remember. If you get there early enough (around 8am) then you can park along the road for free. I can’t remember if they cut down on that last year or not but I used the lot parking last year. The year before that I caravanned there with some others and we parked along the road.
Legends of the Autobahn is east of Rennwerks and lasts until the afternoon. It’s hosted at the Nicklaus Club-Monterey. The entrance is sketchy since you actually end up driving on a dirt trail next to a river onto the golf course to get the to parking lot. Again, parking is $20-ish dollars. Entrance is free.
Exotics on Cannery Row, as its name suggests, is on Cannery Row. This one is again, free to enter since it happens along the main row. However you’ll need to park in a garage since this is downtown Monterey. My go to parking is the parking garage on Foam street between Hoffman and Prescott. This event starts at 6pm and goes into the night. Usually my last stop. It’s also the most tame event of the lot in my opinion. The cars that show up are usually new super/hypercars. They’re not as interesting as the more classic and priceless caliber of cars that show up to the previous two events I mentioned.

I just got my tickets the other day! Not sure if I’ll be able to meet up much since I’m trying to pack in as much as possible. Possibly a mini meet at one of the shows. I’ll be there from the 18th-20th.

Oh that’s awesome. You’re in for one of the most surreal car events you will ever see outside of a few select others (Goodwood, LeMans, etc.). If you’re driving prepare for traffic heading into Monterey and Carmel. But this is car week traffic. So 911s and S classes are the new Camry’s and Corollas. Bentley’s are the new Mercedes, Lamborghinis are the new 911. And you’ll see so many non-road legal cars roaming the streets. And all those priceless cars you read about, prepare to see them.
If you’re able to, I’d suggest stopping by the Quail lodge. Even if you don’t have a ticket the parking lot alone is full of cars worth enough to buy a small country. The cars in that lot would put a lot of cars and coffee events to shame. And those are all cars that didn’t make the cut to get into the Quail event. Also, try one of the auction on Friday night. Some Oppos have been able to get in. Even if you can’t the cars that roll through the entrance are enough of a show.
Also, if you’ve never seen a McLaren F1 in real life this week will probably be your best bet.
Here are some pictures I snapped last year to make the wait worse ;)

Well your friends suck! I have gone and I have an older couple that are my friends and they let me use their passes when they don’t need them. It is amazing cause some of the stuff I could never afford to do yet.

Yeah it is awesome one year they even let me and my SO at the time stay the whole week in their guest room. It was an amazing time

Oh, one last thing I forgot to mention. If you have time on Thursday. Walk around downtown Carmel. Along Ocean Ave since there are a lot of classic cars that roam around there for lunch and shopping.

I got tickets for a Jerry Seinfeld talk on Friday, Laguna Seca Historic races Saturday and Sunday, and then the Concours on Sunday too. There are quite a few events I want to check out but it is hard to choose and try to fit them all in!
This is a good calender to consider: http://www.pebblebeachconcours.net/visitor-guide/event-calendar.html

There are too many events for sure. Any chance as to how I can see the Jerry Sienfeld talk?!
I want to go to the historics but I don’t know when to go on Saturday. I want to see a 250 GTO in person.
Unfortunately, I have to head back on Sunday morning :/

This is the Historic racing schedule: http://www.mazdaraceway.com/sites/main/files/file-attachments/2017_rolex_reunion_schedule_7.15.17.pdf
Not sure if GTOs will be racing Saturday but there has to be a few around town that weekend.
